Max Epstein

Max Epstein is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. Max was born in Pskov, Russia in 1974. He immigrated to Israel at the age of 16. Since 1990 he lives and works in Jerusalem. Epstein graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. He has an MFA degree in fine arts from the University of Haifa. Max presented 19 one-man shows and participated in many group exhibitions in Israel and abroad. Max directed and animated several experimental short animation films where he developed the Unique Author technique. He continues to experiment with the technique by using it in different art mediums such as: visual theater, music, live animation and life painting, and performance art. Max curated 17 exhibitions and initiated many art projects in Jerusalem and abroad. Epstein received the Mordechai Ish-Shalom Prize for special contribution to Israeli Art, The Yuri Stern Immigration and Absorption Prize in a field of Sculpture, Israel Asif Prize for the unique visual statement in a field of animation.
