yael Serlin

Yael Serlin (1983) lives and works in Jerusalem. Serlin is an interdisciplinary artist who works with drawing, printing, sculpture and video installation. Serlin received her MA from the ‘Hamidrasha’ faculty of arts at Beit Berl College, and graduated with honors (BA) from "Emuna"– Academic College of Education for Art and Education. Sarlin is also a member of "Studio of her Own".

The starting point in Serlin's work is the return to memories and events in the personal and collective past while trying to locate the signs of crisis or cracks. Through the use of private databases such as family albums and public data taken from the network and national archives, Serlin repeatedly creates a movement of cover and disclosure. sometimes this movement becomes a testimony to a state of mind and sometimes seeks to point out forgetfulness and oblivion as a living and pulsing presence.

Serlin is the winner of the Beeri Award at the Fresh Print Art Fair (2021) and the Ghetto Fighters Museum Award (2021), the winner of the Young Artist Award from the Ministry of Culture (2019), she participated in the residency program of Apexart in New York. Serlin participated in the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow in cooperation with Hamiffal Jerusalem (2021) and the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Malta (2020), as well she presented a solo exhibition in Beeri gallery and the Poodrum Gallery in Belgrade. Serlin has participated in many group exhibitions including the Ein Harod Art Museum, the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt , the Biblical Lands Museum, and the North African Heritage Museum and more
